The project was completed on June 20, 2019.
The client had problems with the image gallery system. The original problem was that when in the Full Staging and Partial Staging Portfolio page, click the featured image fails to popup the image into a lightbox gallery.
A closer inspection of the problem was that the custom theme uses ACF pro plugin. The theme was a U-Design theme from 2011-2012. So WordPress faithfully self updated itself and it already updated to WordPress 5.1.1 (Gutenberg) when I took over. However, due to the incompatibilities between the plugins and the older theme, the gallery broke. It refuse to load the image attachment and forms the gallery lightbox automatically.
Tried many hours trying to replace and update the plugins but to no avail.
The final solution was to tear down the old ACF gallery system and installed the FooBox lightbox. And now the gallery in various staging portfolio works perfectly.
A few problems I observed on the current website.
There wasn’t any SEO setup. No SEO Title, Meta description, nor keywords specified. There is no Google Analytics connection, no Google Search Console. There isn’t any sitemaps attached at all. Moreover, the wordpress-security-wise, it’s quite weak. I do want to elaborate more.
Oh yes. The website is not responsive at all. Hence searching the website URL in google on mobile will yield no results at all.
I offered a quote to revamp the site with a new theme and upgrade everything from WordPress to the plugins. Client declined and decided just to have a quick fix for the gallery and that’s about it.
Well, it’s a business decision in the end and costs is always involved.
